AB InBev Africa Sustainability Challenge Terms and Conditions – Competition Rules

  1. This promotional competition (“Competition”) is run by AB InBev Africa Zone which is comprised of the following entities:

    (“the Promoter”) and is open to applicants across Africa for persons between 18 and 38 years of age, that permanently resident in any of the African markets where the Promoter operates. Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, the Promoter’s advertising and promotion agencies, associated companies, and outlet owners and staff are excluded from participating

  2. These rules may be amended by notification at any time during the Competition, and will be interpreted by the Promoter only. Participation by all entrants (“Participants”) constitutes acceptance of these rules.

  3. Participation/entry to this Competition constitutes acceptance of all the rules, terms and conditions, guidelines and instructions (“rules’”) pertaining to this competition and Participants accept and agree to abide by the rules.

  4. The Promoter reserves the right to alter, amend or cancel this Competition in part or in its entirety (including, but not limited to, value and/or prize, bookings of the trip and/or planned activities).

  5. In the event of an amendment, alteration and/or cancellation, the Promoter will not compensate any individual for any reason whatsoever.

  6. ENTRY:

    1. The competition is open to businesses that can be utilised as part of the Promoter’s supply chain.

    2. Participants must submit an online entry and all documents (including the business owner’s identity document and business documents) as required on the website: www.challengeaccepted.africa from 23 April 2018 to 17 June 2018. No late applications will be accepted.

    3. Only entries with all accompanying documentation will be entered into the competition. It is the responsibility of the Participant to ensure all documentation is present and correct.

    4. The Promoter shall not be responsible or liable for any lost, delayed, incorrect or incomplete documents and/or entries for any reason whatsoever, whether as a result of any platform, network, computer or cell phone hardware or software failure of any kind, or otherwise. Proof of submission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

    5. Only registered businesses that have been in operation for a minimum of 12 months may enter the Competition. The businesses being entered into the competition must already be formally and officially registered with the relevant law enforcement institutions within its country of operation, and must be run by the Participant on a full time basis. No Participant shall be allowed to enter the competition with more than one business.

  7. Applications received by the closing time and sate will be assessed by the Promoter and/or the Promoter’s agent. Any participants who do not receive a response after end July 2018 must consider their applications unsuccessful.

  8. SELECTION PROCESS AND PRIZE:

    1. 100 Participants will be pre-selected and screened by the Promoter for Phase 1 of the Competition.

    2. The Promoter will then select Participants for the interview process, after which 25 Participants will be selected and invited to attend a 3 day Acceleration Boot camp on the dates stipulated by the Promoter which will be communicated to the selected Participants.

    3. The Bootcamp will take place in South Africa. Participants will be required to physically travel to South Africa to attend the Boot camp. During the Boot camp, the Participants will be required to present their business solutions to a panel who will select a minimum of 10 Participants as finalists (“Finalists”).

    4. The Finalists will participate in a Regional experience tour to Sillicone Savannah, Nairobi Kenya, for the further strengthening of their businesses with insights from regional industry champions. Finalists will be expected to present to a panel and up to 3 of the Finalists will be awarded a share of $50 000.00 in prize money for the implementation of their business growth strategy.

    5. The Prize will include: - Return flights from the country of origin to the destination countries as per the prize phase on an airline/s of Promoter’s choice. Travel will only be on the dates stipulated by Promoter/Promoter’s Agency. The flight may not be a direct flight. Winners must arrange their own transport to and from the airport in the country of origin. - No alternative modes of travel will be considered outside of what the Promoter elects to book. - Necessary transfers to and from hotels, airports and outings at the Destination, as listed on the itinerary, will be provided by the Promoter. - Hotel accommodation of Promoter’s choice for the duration of the Boot camp or tour. - Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. All meals as per hotel menu. Any dietary requirements must be specifically communicated.

    6. The Promoter will not cover the cost of obtaining a visa, where necessary, and will not cover the cost for transport to and from the embassy for interviews and the like, and the Promoter does not guarantee that a visa will be awarded by the embassy and will not be liable in this regard.

    7. The prize does not include spending money, gratuities, other items of a personal nature or any items not specified in these terms.

    8. The Participants will be expected to arrange all their own travel documents in order to redeem the prize.

    9. The winners will not have a choice of prize and the prize is not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

  9. The Promoter will assume full rights and ownership of all materials (imagery, videos, etc) produced from the competition, and will be entitled to use the Participant’s story for PR without any compensation to the Participant whatsoever. The winning Participants will be required to sign such an authorisation.

  10. In the event of any dispute, the Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  11. The Promoter reserves the right to make media announcements, publications of the winners of the competition, photography and follow-up interviews.

  12. The governing law to apply in respect of this competition is that of the Republic of South Africa, and therefore it is the sole responsibility of the Entrants to ensure that they comply with relevant regulatory and legislative requirements as set out by the Republic of South Africa.

  13. The winning Participants agree to have their business progress tracked annually for a period of five years.

  14. All Participants and winners indemnify the Promoter, its associated companies (directors, officers and employees) and agents, against any / all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever and in any way connected to their participation in, or association with, this Competition.
